Review: From Storm and Shadow is an amazing new YA Fantasy story about a young faerie named Silver, because of her gorgeous and unique silver and white hair, who lost her parents at 16 and was forced into hiding. The Guild murdered her parents the night of the Liberation Day Ball and she's been on the run ever since.

Two years later, she goes into work only to be ambushed by a Guardian she thought she'd never see again. Ash was her childhood best friend and he betrayed her that night by trying to capture her using his magic. Ash was told she died that night in a horrible fire and was shocked to find her alive. Silver runs and Ash tracks her, starting a whirlwind of a story that jumps back and forth through memory and reality to piece together what really happened to her family and why Stormsdrift is being attacked by horrendous monsters that started when she ran away.

Silver begins to search for a mysterious journal her dad mentioned before he died, one that had been written by her mom with information on a magical door that may be where the monsters are coming from. If the journal can help, she may be able to fix the issue and run away for good, and making sure Ash cannot follow her. As they join together to find this journal and possibly a magical door, they have to not only survive each other but monsters, figure out truth from lies and weather the storms that come.

Personally speaking, I loved Silver's character. She was brave and challenging from the beginning. But to lose everything, start over in a human realm, and survive while gaining strength and skills on the run? I think she's an awesome and fierce female main character. Ash is a good male character but I wouldn't call him a main. While he and Silver were in this together, and each had their part to play, he always felt a bit secondary, like a helper. I feel like Silver could make this journey without him but having his support made it better. Seeing their friendship evolve through the past and seeing the possibilities of their future relationship is an exquisite balance that could be tipped either way. The ending was *chef's kiss* because it was a nice, soft landing instead of a major cliff hanger. It is obvious that there will be another part to this story but as one door closes, another one will open elsewhere.
